About the Ohel Fellowship
Our Founding Story
Following October 7th the large Muslim and Jewish populations at different public schools like Stuyvesant and Bronx Science found themselves divided and isolated and terrified to bring up the tension at all. The Together Project was founded in 2023 to combat the division between these communities and began leading afterschool club meetings and seasonal conferences to facilitate the conversations we would otherwise have been too scared to engage with. The Ohel Fellowship was founded this summer to bring NYC teens attending only-Jewish and only-Muslim schools into our community and conversations. A coalition of teens from different schools with different relationships to religion, different degrees of isolation from the other group, and different perspectives on the world, at the Ohel fellowship, we seek to understand the experiences and perspectives of one another.
